Cycling as a lifestyle
Victoria is the cycling capital of Canada, and it’s not hard to see why. We have an enviable AAA cycling network, temperate year-round weather, and a range of incredible cycling services - from the free bike valet to mobile bike mechanics.
Now, electric cargo bikes have completely changed the game and we have one of the largest cargo bike shops in Canada. These bikes are designed to be car replacements. Whether it’s getting your kids to school, grabbing groceries, or doing errands around town - cargo bikes do it all. Vancity Credit Union also offers “plant-wise” transportation loans to help you get onto a new bike!
Our homes are carefully designed for the cyclist lifestyle, with the biggest most feature-rich bike garages in the region. We have ample room for even the biggest cargo bikes, electric charging, washing areas, repair stations, and storage for all your bike accessories!
Better when shared
Victoria has two amazing car-share providers - Modo Co-operative and Evo. Most carshare users only borrow a vehicle a couple of times a month (relying first on walking, cycling, and transit), but whenever a car is the right tool for the job, you’ve got one at your fingertips.
Modo has over 140 vehicles in Greater Victoria and is a two-way carshare provider - meaning every vehicle has a “home” parking spot that you pick up and return the vehicle to. Modo has vehicles of all types and sizes, from family vans to work trucks to sports cars - whatever the trip, Modo has a vehicle for you.
Evo has a fleet of 125 Toyota Prius Hybrids in Greater Victoria and is a one-way carshare provider - meaning you can pick up and drop off a vehicle anywhere within their operating area.
Each of our projects includes an electric Modo carshare vehicle steps from your front door, in areas with a strong network of other Modo and Evo vehicles. We’ve got all your bases covered!
Hop on the bus
Transit in Victoria is getting better all the time and BC Transit has laid out its ambitious Rapid Bus strategy to "outperform personal automobiles in speed, comfort and reliability" while connecting Victoria’s regional municipalities.
For car-free living, transit is especially good at bridging longer distances and key destinations like downtown Victoria, Swartz Bay Ferry, UVIC, and downtown Langford. BC Transit also has a user-friendly trip planning and electronic payments app, Umo, to make taking the bus that much easier.
